Born: November 04, 1895 in Detroit, Michigan Parents: Vincent (Walace) Sledzinski & Catherine (Katarzina) Ches According to the National Personnel Records Center, Joseph Sledzinski, Serial Number 1039369, enlisted in the U.S. Army, June 20, 1917. His assignment was the "Demobilization Group", at Camp Custer in Battle Creek, Michigan. He was discharged from Camp Custer June 18, 1919. Joseph married Sophia Kipke, born March 08, 1906, died June 18, 1942. They had one child, Richard (Sledzinski) Kipke. The couple separated and about 1928, Joseph told his family he, "was going to Chicago". Joseph ended up in San Francisco, California and gained employment with the W.P.A. at Fort Scott. He resided at 1656 Bush Street. At the age of 42, in 1938, Joseph applied for Social Security benefits. At some point, Joseph moved to 919 S. Bonnie Brae Street, in Los Angeles, California. Jospeh died in his home on Bonnie Brae Street on June 02, 1965. He was buried, June 21, 1965, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, California. |
