NOTE: This Bible started out as the family Bible of James Eli Reddick and his wife Armine A. Robertson. A daughter Mary Ann Samantha Reddick married Ellis Luther Kirkham and the Bible was handed down to her. It was later handed down to their daughter Sophia T. Kirkham who married Francis Milton Hodges thus it has records of all three families. Spelling and wording will appear just as it was in the original.

J. H. Kirkham was married to Miss Martha F M A Bass in Halifax Town, Halifax County, N. Carolina by James Frazier Esq on the 18 day of March 1838.

DEATHS

Jacob Kirkham died 18 day of May 1839 at one o'clock aged at the time of his death 69 years old.
Susan Kirkham wife of said Jacob Kirkham and mother of J. H. Kirkham of Raleigh, North Carolina died 21 of Nov 1839 in the 43 year of her age and was born near Dinwiddie Courthouse, Virginia and was a Miss Thrift.
Mrs Martha F M A the lovely and amiable wife of J. H. Kirkham departed this life in the city of Raleigh, North Carolina on her birthday 27 years old and on the 10 day of August 1847 leaving husband, mother and five children to wit: Josephine, Mary, Martha, Sally Anne and Benjamin Sherrod. She was the daughter of Mrs Sarah Bass and grand daughter of Doctor Charles Pasteur of Halifax County.
