LaSART connections

Mary LaSart, the wife of Baptist LaSART, raised Antoine and Josephine BESEAU/BOISSEAU after their parents, Joseph BESAU and Mary Ann died  - it is assumed Joseph died shortly after the 1850 census on which he was found and Mary Ann died shortly before - at least sometime between 1848 - when Josephine was born and the 1850 census.

It is assumed that Mary is related either to Mary Ann or to Joseph - but since Joseph was born in Quebec and Mary in Wisconsin the connection between Mary Ann and Mary would seem more evident.  As Indian connections  are supposed to be in the family somewhere, and Mary is a Native American on the 1880 census, it is also presume to be of the Ojibwa/Ojibewa  tribe.

What is being gathered but no connections yet - Assume Joseph had a father Antoine as that is what he named his son.

Antoine BESSAN/BESSAU

In the "Lost In Canada" of November 1981 it would appear he would have
been an employee of the American Fur company, working on the upper
Mississippi River. He was a boatman and it would appear from this 1981
listing that he and the others were being taken up the river on the
"Assiniboine.: His occupation was "boatman". Several on that list are
relatively famous as fur traders and workers on the Missouri River in that
time period.

The Wisconsin fur-trade people by Les and Jeanne Rentmeester FHL US/CAN
Book 977.5 U2r. Most of the volume is an alphabetical list of fur trade
people with short information about them.

Pg 161 said Antoine Bisson from 1809-1811 employer/remarks: Mackinac Company (Milwaukee). Then on pg. 248  it said Antoine Bisson from 1818-1820 Employer/Remarks Jacques Vieu
(Milwki). Since this was all it said I did not make copies of the pages.
