Elias was born on 17 April 1741 in Essex, New Jersey.  He died March, 1824 in Caldwell, Essex, New Jersey

John was born in 1745. 

Joseph was born about 1752.

Peter  was born 24 February, 1748, New York, He died  20 August, 1809.He married  Jannetje Jacobus 1789. 

Peter served in Seeley's Regiment NJ Militia.  He served Capt Stephen Baldwin's Company at the alarm at Connecticut Farms from the 7 June 1780.  His pay for eight days was 16 shillings at 1 shilling 89 pence per day.  His certification date was 18 February 1783.  There are no personal papers in his file.  He lived on the west side of the "Bog and Fly" according to the account in American ancestry by Munsel, vol 8, page 138.  The Bog and Fly was a valley in Morris County not far from Pompton, which was noted for it's great fertility.  It was also noted for raising onions.

He was a farmer and lived in Parsippany, NJ in his later years.  According to tax records he was living next to Mourison family.  There are maps listing the Mourison family land near the Horseneck Bridge in Montville.  It is my assumption that this is where Peter Courter lived and where he died.

 Peter's will was probated 3 December 1809, Book A, Page 258, 1809.  His death is recorded in his son Abraham's bible.  His will is proved in the Office of the Surrogate of Morris County, New Jersey 3 December 1809, Book A, page 258, 1387N Peter Courter, LDS film # 0550496, Recorded in NJ Morris Deed, Folio B, page 253-256.

Hermonus Courter and Phineas Farrend were executors of will and it was signed 4 December 1809 with the mark of Harmonus.  Inventory made 4 September 1809,

Horses, cows, hogs, sleigh, wagon, sled, hay wheat, rye, chickens, bees, plows, furniture, buckwheat, corn, potatoes, wearing apparel, silverware, pots, dishware, signeed Jacob Mowrison, Jr and James Young sworn at Morristown 23 November 1809.

Will filed 23 November 1809, registered in Book A, page 258 and 259. December 3, 1809 Harmonus and Phineas Farrand swear that debts have been paid.
The will states:  He gives to wife Jane besides her 1/8 dower right the dwelling and use of the farm. Manus, oldest son to have 86 acres where he now lives taken form the fourth field of my farm including my dwelling house except for 1/2 of swamp lot, To my second son John I give 60 acres which is the remainder of my form. To my third son Isaac, I give $162.50 to be applied for his education until he is capable of keeping merchants book and the remainder to be paid to Issac when he is 21.  Isaac should be put to trade at age 14. I give to my third daughter Charity $50 when she is 18.  John responsible for upkeep of Charity. Manus gets to use the parlor and the will read as if John gets to use the rest of the house.  He appoints son Manus and Phineas Farrand, Exeecutors of estate and guardians of children, Isaac and Charity.  Peter Courter, his mark X
