In 1886, Joseph Stone Phillips was on the committee to study the opening of a school at Wessington Springs, South Dakota.  A later relative, Clara Grace OSGOOD, attended this school about 1925.

Philip, Phillips: the name signifies in Greek a lover of horses, being the combination of two words philos and hippos.

153  M George Mattier PHILLIPS (Samuel1) was born 22 March 1836/1837/1838 in Buffalo, NY. He married (1)  Eunice V. Baldwin 24 Oct 1866 in Algona, Kossuth, Iowa; they divorced. Eunice V Baldwin died after 1909.    George married (2) Abbie. Abbie died about 1887.  George died 11 March 1909 in Soldier's Home,  Marshalltown, Iowa, at the age of 73, and was buried in Honu Cemetery.

1531 M James M. PHILLIPS, born 1 Jun 1868 in Iowa. He married Hattie. She was born about 1876.   
1532  F Inez PHILLIPS, born about Feb 1870 in Iowa, died in childhood about 1874.  
154 F Sarah STONE PHILLIPS (Samuel1) was born 1840 in Buffalo ?, New York. She married Hiram J. HARLOW 10 Oct 1866 in Outgamie County, Wisconsin. He was born 24 Jul 1840 in Middlebury, Vermont. Hiram died 23 Oct 1905 in Hot Springs, South Dakota, at the age of 65.  Sarah died 9 November 1890 in Sioux Falls, SD, at the age of 50.   Sarah and her son Simon/Samuel arrived in the US on the Joshua Bates ship 9 October 1832. Simon/Samuel was age 10 months
Sarah and Hiram  had 3 children:  
+ 155 F Francis S PHILLIPS (Samuel1) was born about 1833 in Buffalo, N.Y.  She married  about 1854 (per Memoir) James T SCOTT.
  Francis and James had 6 children found on the 1880 census of Trego, Kansa and on the 1860 census in Mahaska County, Cedar Township, Iowa.  Also James and Frances F. SCOTT were found  on the 1880 Iowa census, she age 25, he age 28 at Leroy, Audoban, Iowa - Page 830.  Also found:
