.Martha EellsMartha Eells was born on January 15, 1832 in Ashtabula Co., OH. Her parents moved to Pennsylvania in 1834 when she was about age 2. She is listed with her parents at age 18 on the 1850 census of Greenwood, Crawford Co., PA. Martha married J. E. Williams about 1853 and they had one daughter named Lillian. I have not been able to find the family on the 1860 census at this time, but Martha moved at some time between 1850 to 1870 from Pennsylvania to Wisconsin. J. E. Williams died or left Martha sometime before 1870. Martha is listed as a dressmaker, age 36, on the 1870 census of Hudson, St. Croix Co., WI, living in the household of Alfred Goff - at that time neither her husband or daughter are listed with her, but I believe I find her daughter Lillian age 15, b. WI, in a private boarding school in Troy, St. Croix Co., WI. At some time between 1870 to 1880 Martha moved from Wisconsin to Pennsylvania. She is living with Isaac & Polly (Eells) Hazen on the 1880 census of Greenwood, Crawford Co., PA. At that time she is listed as a boarder with her marital status not marked. There are several Williams families living nearby and also in Greenwood, PA in 1860, but I have not been able to determine who J. E. Williams was yet. According to Warren Reid's book Martha returned to Wisconsin sometime between 1880 to 1900. Martha Eells Williams died in 1900 in Hudson, St. Croix Co., WI.

.Enos EellsEnos Eells was born on October 28, 1833 in Ashtabula Co., OH. His parents moved to Pennsylvania in 1834 when he was about age 1. He is listed with his parents at age 16 on the 1850 census of Greenwood, Crawford Co., PA. Enos' mother died in 1852, and his father remarried in 1857 and died in 1859. I have not found Enos on the 1860 census at this time, but he enlisted in the Confederate Army, Co. C, 9th Battalion, on April 23, 1861; his younger brother Daniel served in the Union Army. Enos was present on roll calls in Sept. & Oct 1862, and he is on a list of Prisoners of War. He was paroled at at Port Hudson, LA on July 1, 1863. Enos married Susan Murphy Blue about 1866, and they had at least 7 children. Warren Reid's book and some other researchers on the internet list Enos' wife as Marcia Lea, but on all census records I have found her name is listed as Susan or Susana. Susan was the widow of a Rebel soldier named Daniel Blue, and she had a young daughter named Alice from that marriage. Enos & Susan & family are listed on the 1870 census of District 10, Livingston Parish, LA with Enos' occupation listed as Merchant; there is a household next door headed by Edward Halker that has 9 year old Alice Blue living with them. Enos & Susan & children are listed on the 1880 census of 6th Ward, Livingston Parish, LA, with Alice Blue, age 18, is listed in their household as a stepdaughter. At that time Enos' occupation was listed as Shingle Maker. Enos Eells died sometime between 1880 to 1900, probably in Livingston Parish, LA. Susan is listed as widowed on the 1900 census of New Orleans, Orleans Co., LA. At that time Susan is listed as having 10 births with 7 surviving children. There is an Enos Eells who has been listed as being buried at Bear Island Cemetery, Livingston, LA that may be Enos.

.Edward Eells JrEdward Eells Jr was born on December 28, 1835 in Crawford Co., PA. He is listed with his parents at age 14 on the 1850 census of Greenwood, Crawford Co., PA. Edward Jr's mother died in 1852 when he was about age 17. His father remarried Elizabeth Goforth in 1857, and he died in 1859. Edward Jr is listed at age 24 with several of his other siblings in the household of his married brother Giles on the 1860 census of Makee Twp., Allamakee Co., IA. Edward married Mary Jane McCracken on March 3, 1863 and they had 3 children. I have not been able to find him on the 1870 census, but Mary J. is listed was widowed with their 3 children on the 1880 census of Douglas Clay Co., IA. She is listed on the 1900 census as widowed with 3 births and 3 surviving children. Warren Reid's book states that Edward married his stepsister Elizabeth Goforth in 1857 and that they had 4 children. I believe that the 1857 marriage record was for Edward Eells Sr., and that Edward Eells Jr was only married to Mary Jane McCracken, but this needs more research. Based on birth places of his chilren, Edward Eells Jr. died about 1879, probably in Clay Co., Iowa.

.Catharine EellsCatharine Eells was born on October 30, 1837 in Crawford Co., PA. She is listed with her parents at age 12 on the 1850 census of Greenwood, Crawford Co., PA. The family is listed on the 1860 census Hanover Twp. Allamakee Co., IA. The family moved from Iowa to Nebraska sometime between 1871 to 1875, and they are listed on the 1880 census of Blakely, Gage Co., NE. William shot and killed Catharine on July 22, 1882 at their daughter's home near Hoag, Gage Co., NE. According to newspaper accounts at the time, William was an abusive husband to Catherine, and he killed her because she had decided to leave him. Although sentenced in March 1884 to serve ten years in the Nebraska State Penitentary, he served seven years and one month as inmate #734, being released April 10, 1891. William Henry Reid died on November 21, 1898 in Gage Co., NE.

.Daniel EellsDaniel Eells was born on January 29, 1840 in Greenwood Twp., Crawford Co., PA. He is listed with his parents at age 9 on the 1850 census of Greenwood, Crawford Co., PA. Daniel's mother died in 1852 when he was about age 12. His father remarried in 1857 and died in 1859. Daniel enlisted in the Union Army on Aug 15, 1862; his older brother Enos served in the Confederate Army. Daniel was promoted to Eighth Corporal Oct 15, 1864, Seventh Corporal Mar 26, 1865, and Fourth Corporal Jun 28, 1865, in Company I, under Capt George Miller, of the 27th Infantry, Iowa Volunteers. I have not found them on the 1900 census at this time. They are listed on the 1910 census of Lincoln, Lancaster Co., NE; Polly is listed as having had 7 births with 4 surviving children at that time. Daniel Eells died on March 03, 1913 in Lincoln, Lancaster Co. NE. His cause of death was listed as Acute Nephritis.
Notes for Daniel Eells
.Spicer EellsSpicer Dayton Eells was born on September 4, 1845 in Greenwood Twp., Crawford Co., PA. He is listed with his parents as Dayton, age 6, on the 1850 census of Greenwood, Crawford Co., PA. (On all later census records I have found his first name is listed as Spicer.) Spicer's mother died in 1852 when he was about age 7. His father remarried in 1857 and died in 1859. Spicer is listed at age 15, living with several of his siblings in the household of his married brother Giles on the 1860 census of Makee Twp., Allamakee Co., IA. Warren Reid's book says that Spicer married Catherine Scott on May 4, 1867, and a tree on the internet lists her birthdate as March 9, 1849. I have not been able to find the family on the 1870 census at this time. Warren's book states that Spicer remarried and lived in Nebraska. I believe he married Clementine about 1872 and they had one daughter, Alpha, born in January 1873. The family is listed on the 1880 & 1900 censuses of Stove Creek Pct, Cass Co., NE. In 1900 it is stated that Spicer & Clementine had been married for 33 years (1867) but I think that may have been an error. Clementine's birthdate is given as Feb 1850. I have not found Spicer or Clementine on any census records after 1900, and I did not see them on the 1910 census of Stove Creek. Warren Reid writes that Spencer was Postmaster in Elmwood, (Cass Co.), NE. In 1910 Stove Creek is also listed as being Elmwood Village, Cass Co., NE. Spicer Dayton Eells died after 1900, probably between 1900 t0 1910 in Stove Creek, Elmwood Village, Cass Co., NE. He is buried in Elmwood, Cass Co., NE.
