Focht Rites set Thursday
The funeral for Ivan Gerald "Bussy" Focht, 17-year Payne County worker with District 3, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Strode Funeral Home. He died Sunday, May 17, 1987, in Stillwater Medical Center at the age of 64. The Rev. Leroy Hawkins will officiate for the service with interment in Lanier Cemetery, northwest of Stillwater. Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma society for Crippled Children, 2100 NW 63rd, Oklahoma City, 73116.
The son of Russell Curtis and Shirley Frances (Griffin) Focht, he was born 12 miles east of Stillwater on March 11, 1923. When he was 5 ½ the family moved to Sumner where he attended school. He lived in the Sumner and Morrison area until coming to Stillwater in 1971. In addition to working for the county he had a farm-ranch operation.
He and the former Mary Ruth Swisher Waltman were married in 1968 in Stillwater. She has since remarried and is a Texas City, Texas resident.
He is survived by five step-sons, Mike Waltman of Guthrie, Ron Waltman of Longview, Steve and David Waltman both of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Seaman First Class Tony Waltman with the U.S. Navy, stationed at San Diego, Calif. Also listed as survivors are five step-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Alvin (Dorothy) Harting of 1202 E. Fifth.
Honorary pallbearers are fellow employees and District 3 road crewmen, Randall Lavigne, Jim Hargrove, Jim Axtell, Howard Lewis, Frank Slavens and Alvin Slavens.
