Ida Swisher Services Set
Services for Ida Ellis Swisher, 86, formerly of 322 S. Burdick, will be 10 a.m., Monday at St. Francis Catholic Church, Father Don Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Lanier Cemetery northwest of Stillwater under the direction of Strode Funeral Home. A Bible prayer service will take place at 7:30 p.m., Sunday at Strode Chapel. She died Friday, Feb. 19, 1988 at Stillwater Medical Center.
Mrs. Swisher was born in Fannin County, Texas, July 29, 1901, the daughter of Samuel L. and Clara F. (Cabe) Madison. She came to Payne County with her parents in 1906 and was educated at the Pleasant Hill School and had lived in Stillwater since.
She married Orville J. Swisher Aug. 8, 1923 in Perry. A homemaker, she was a member of the Catholic Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include three sons: J.D. Swisher, Grand Junction, Colo.; Ronald R. Swisher, Tulsa; Harold Swisher, Texas; eight daughters; Mrs. Carol Conway, Mrs. W.R. "Bob" (Barbara) White, Mrs. John (Lenora) Seales, all of Stillwater; Mrs. Herman (Anne) Mick, Wichita, Kan.; Mrs. James (Clara) Langley, Ponca City; Mrs. Wanda Mertz, Casper Wyo.; Mrs. William (Ruth) Elgin, Galveston, Texas; Mrs. Paul (Sallie) Brown, Garland, Texas; 49 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
