Evans Funeral Is Set for Tuesday
Services for John Oliver Evans, 67, will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Strode
Funeral home. Rev. V.A. Doty will be in charge and burial will be in Lanier cemetery.
Evans was hit by a Santa Fe passenger train Friday morning north of Stillwater and died around
12 noon the same day.
He was born in Ottawa, Kas., January 4, 1881, the son of Henry M. and Elizabeth Lu Evans. He
was married to Gerty Baldwin [see correction] at Anthony, Kas., and had lived in Stillwater since 1930.
Survivors include the wife of Anthony, Kas., one daughter, Mrs. Vinita Eslinger, also of Anthony.
One son, Harold, died in 1944 and two children died in infancy. Also surviving are three brothers
and four sisters.

Lowry; Mrs. Zella Nelson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Mrs. Lilla Brewer, also of Colorado Springs;
Mrs. Gertrude Rains, 1119 Duncan; and two grandchildren.
