Mary Emily Lile Evans
Mary Emily Lile Evans, 86, died Tuesday, October 16, 1924, at her home in Stillwater, Ok., 1016 West Eleventh avenue.
Funeral services were held at the Strode Funeral home Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. Burial was in Laneer cemetery.
Mary Emily Lile was born in Schiler county, Missouri, December 20, 1847. She was united in marriage with Jake Protsman in Lancaster, Mo. in 1864. Two children were born to this union, both preceding their mother in death.
In March, 1873 she married John Evans at Farlandville, Kan. In the spring of 1889 the Evans family came to Payne county, settling on a farm four miles southwest of Stillwater where they made their home until 1920, when they moved to Stillwater. Mr. Evans died in 1928.
She was adopted into the Followers church forty-four years ago. Surviving the decedent are two sons, Mell, of Stillwater; and Clarence, of Clarendon, Ark.; two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Combs, Atoka, and Mrs. Myrtle Cortiss, Mountainair, N.M.; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Groseclose, El Reno, and Mrs. Fannie Robins, of Enid. There are fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
