The death angel visited the Pleasant Valley neighborhood and took from its midst the little darling girl, Mary Alma Fortner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Fortner, Friday morning, November 26, 1915, at 6 o'clock, at the age of 4 years, 9 months, and 2 days. The cause of this untimely death was cholera infantum.
The funeral, which was largely attended by both neighborhoods, Pleasant Valley and Fair Plains, was held at the home of the mother's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Johnson, where the little one become ill, Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock, conducted by Rev. S.A. Philips, pastor of the United Bretheran church of Stillwater. Interment was made in the Laneer cemetery nine miles northwest of Stillwater.
Alma was an unusually bright child for her age, and everyone couldn't help but love her. Her short life in this world has been a real blessing and real hope to those who are left behind.
The surviving father and mother, grandparents, and relatives have the sincere sympathy of the entire community in this bereavement.
