Mattie Florence Williams Stockwell, 93, of Enid, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, in the Methodist Home in Enid. Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in Strode Chapel. The Rev. Max Rudd will officiate. Interment will be in Lanier Cemetery under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.
She was born in Stillwater Nov. 26, 1910, to Herbert Earl Nash and Pansy Ethella (Oldfield) Nash.
She married H.W. Beecher William in October 1937 in Stillwater. He preceded her in death Oct. 30, 1975. She married Ruben Thairn Stockwell July 3, 1982, in Stillwater. He preceded her in death April 30, 1998. She was born and reared in Oklahoma and attended schools in the Stillwater area. She and Ruben Stockwell loved Oklahoma State University softball games and also the local school games. She loved to bowl, do crafts and loved her family very much. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands. She is survived by two sons, Harold Woods of Stillwater and Glee Williams of Stillwater; four daughters, Jackie Baird and her husband, Elton, of Perkins, Jo O’Daniel of Stillwater, Gay Hayes of Enid and Kay Schuman and her husband, Rick, of Joplin, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dana McGilvrey of Stillwater.
