HARDY LONG, born about 1787 in North Carolina and died August 25, 1854 in Bean Station, Grainger County, Tennessee. He married (1.) Rachel Cash October 05, 1813 in Sommerset, Pulaski County, Kentucky. She was born about 1802 in Wilkes County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of James Cash and Hannah Unknown. Hardy volunteered in October of 1814 for the War of 1812. He served under a Captain Joseph Rich's Company, Samuel Branches Regiment, Tennessee Infantry Brigade of the Tennessee Militia. His rank was that of Private. His term was for six months and he was honorably discharged 6 months later. After being discharged Hardy and Rachel lived in the vicinity of Bean Station, Grainger County, Tennessee, until he died. Hardy was 5 ft. 10 inches tall, fair complexion, light hair and blue eyes. He was a farmer by occupation. Hardy and Rachel were married by Reverend Bayles Williams, on October 5, 1813, in a town near Sommerset, Pulaski County, Kentucky.
