DAVID FEE son of JOHN FEE and PATIENCE KELLY was born Bet. 1784 - 1789 in Huntingdon County,
Pennsylvania, and died 26 January 1847 in Gulston, Harlan County, Kentucky. He married LUCY NOE 12
September 1810 in Lee County, Virginia, daughter of JOHN NOE and CHARLOTTE CARR. She was born
1793 in Lee County, Virginia, and died 26 June 1874 in Harlan County, Kentucky. He is buried in the Fee Cemetery, Slater's Fork (now Gulston), Harlan County,Kentucky. He was a Sergeant in the War of 1812, second Regiment of Kentucky Volunteers under Lieutenant Colonel William Jennings, Captain David Garrard's Company Military Service. For his service he recieved additional bounty land in Harlan County, Kentucky and his wife received $* per month pension, beginning in 1874. He was Discharged in Cincinatti,Ohio. Following the War of 1812 he was a school teacher in Harlan County, Kentucky, although he never taught his wife to read and write. He did some minor farming, and started a fine apple orchard. While recognizing that coal was present undergorund on his land, he never realized the potential value. A few years after his death the Yancy mines were located on what formerly had been Fee property, and became some of the richest lodes ever discovered in the United States.
I have also read that he was a Colonel.
