ISAAC CARMACK was born 1816 in Virginia. He married COMFORT HALE in Tennessee, and moved to Island Creek, Clay/Owsley County, Kentucky between 1840-1848.

When he came back to Owsley County, his wife & children were gone. Comfort Hale Carmack thought he was killed & moved back to their Tennessee home.
Issac went back to Tazwell, Tennessee & told Comfort he would never leave her again. He did leave her again. This time to fight for the south. He was killed at Mill Springs, Kentucky outside of Somerset & buried in a mass grave with 150 other confederate's.
