My Uncle, Reverend JOHN HALL COLBERT JR, was born 15 February 1924 in Leslie, Searcy County, Arkansas the youngest of 8 children born to Rev. John Hall Colbert, Sr., and Ethel (McThompson) Colbert. Rev. Colbert received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ouachita College, Arkadelphia, Arkansas and attended Midwestern Seminary. He was married to Miss VIOLA BRYAN of Willow Springs, Missouri, on 07 December 1945. She was born 06 December 1926 in Hutton Valley, Missouri and died 27 July 2002 in West Plains, Missouri. Four children were born to couple. Rev. Colbert was Pastor of Little Zion Baptist Church of Mountain View, Missouri, 1950-1954; Richwoods Baptist Church, Arkadelphia, Arkansas, 1954-1957; First Baptist Church, Hoxie, Arkansas, 1957-1959; First Baptist Church, Summersville, Missouri, 1959-1963; Fair Oaks Baptist Church, Fair Oaks, Arkansas; and at the time of his death was Pastor at Lost Camp Baptist Church, Howell County, Missouri. Rev. Colbert was a Mason, serving as Chaplain; a member of the Lions Club and of Alpha Kappa Chapter of Omicron Beta Chi. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Civil Air Patrol, serving as Chaplain of both organizations. During World War II, he served with the United States Army Air Force from 1942 until 1945, and on overseas duty with the 8th Air Force in the European Theater of Operations for 18 months. Rev. and Mrs. Colbert are both buried at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery in Howell County, Missouri.
