Additional information/changes on the Barrett line came from Barbara Wooddell. Thank you!

Even though this tidbit of information does not pertain to my direct line, it is noteworthy. George W. Barrett (descendent line - William Barrett and Nancy Bolin; Thomas Barrett and Barbara Gabbard, Murrell Barrett and Elizabeth Price, David Barrett) was known as an outlaw. He was known as the "Diamond King" in the underworld. He was born about June 17, 1897, Clay County, KY and died March 24, 1936, Indianapolis, IN. George Barrett was wanted for car theft and interstate transportation of stolen vehicles. George Barrett shot and killed FBI Special Agent Nelson B. Klein on August 16, 1935 in College Corner, Ohio. George Barrett was also shot and was crippled from the gun shot wounds he received. This however was not the first time George Barrett had killed someone. On September 2, 1930, George had an altercation with his mother regarding the punishment of his son who was living with his mother at that time. George shot and killed his own mother! George's sister, Rachel, was also shot when she tried to intervene. Rachel was shot in the head but did not die, (It appears that she died in 1931 from complications of pneumonia. However, some things I have read state that she died from medical complications while being treated for her gun shot wound.) George stood trial for the murder of his mother. The first trial ended in a mistrial and he was acquitted in the second trial. However, he was not so lucky the next time. A federal law was passed in 1934 making the killing of a federal officer a capital offense punishable by death. The altercation between George Barrett and the FBI agents took place in College Corner, Ohio, however George was standing across the state line in Indiana when he fired upon the FBI agents and was therefore tried in Indiana for the murder of Special Agent Klein. George Barrett was arrested, stood trial (in which he was found guilty on December 14, 1935) and hanged on March 24, 1936 for the murder of FBI Special Agent Nelson B. Klein. Information can be found in numerous newspapers, including The Cincinnati Enquirer, The Kentucky Post, and The New York Times. Nelson Klein's picture is hanging in the "Hall of Honor for FBI Agents killed as the direct results of an adversarial action". FBI website. I'm sure that there are others, but these are the ones I found.
