Dean Surname Y-DNA Project – results

Welcome to those researching the DEAN surname.  The purpose of this project is to facilitate placing orders for Y-DNA test kits to be used by males surnamed Dean and to coordinate the results from those tests.  Using these results may enable us to prove or disprove theories regarding our male DEAN ancestors.  We also hope to build a Y-DNA database which will enable us to identify various DEAN ancestral lines.

If you have some knowledge of genealogy and want to learn about using DNA testing in genealogical research, I highly recommend the book Trace Your Roots with DNA by Megan Smolenyak Smolenyak and Ann Turner published in 2004 by Rodale Inc.  This recently-published book will give you what you will need to know to use this new tool in genealogical research.
