We are sorry to hear of the illness of P. J. Inglis at his home here.
We hope for him a speedy recovery.
Mr and Mrs Frank Thereau and family have gone to Yarmouth.
Mr Thereau was assistant station agent here for some years.
The firm of G. A. Westhaver has received several good orders which will allow the mill to employ all of the former help. This firm manufactures, saws and blocks and is a great incentive to the town to hear the whistle blow.
Edward B. W. Cochran, a student in King's College, who was home attending the funeral of his father, Dr W. N. Cochran, returned to Halifax on Monday.
The death occurred on Saturday, at the home of her daughter,
of Mrs. Edmund Inglis, an old and respected citizen.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs Obed Hamm,
with whom she resided and one son, Ralph Inglis, in the United States.
Her husband predeceased her three years ago.
The funeral was held on Sunday, Rev Layton Tuck officating.
Mrs Patterson, wife of Rev. R. A. Patterson,
who has been ill for over a year,
is showing signs of some improvement at the United Manse here.
Harold Mason, has accepted the position as salesman at the store of Joseph Younis, Main Street.
The death occurred at his home on Friday, Nov. 4th, at Clearland, of
Frank Keddy after a long illness, at the age of 27 years.
He was the son of the late George Kedy and Mrs Kedy,
and is survived besides his mother by several brothers and sisters,
all of them residing in the United States,
excepting Judson, who lives at home.
Burial took place at Clearland,
Rev Nonamaker officating.
Mrs Ward Millett, who has been very ill at Arlington, Mass., is improving and her many friends wish her a speedy recovery.
Little Jane Zwicker, a pupil at the Somerville Dancing School, Massachusetts,
is only five years of age,
but has been chosen among a large class as a favorite, as she is a toe dancer.
Jane Zwicker is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Ralph B. Zwicker of LaHave
and Mr.and Mrs Chas. Zwicker of that place are her grandparents.
Miss Brenda Lohnes is engaged at the meat market on Main Street,
as clerk for her father, H. E. Lohnes.
The popular Blockhouse merchant, Harris Langille, formerly the 'Demas
Langille store,'
is a very busy man at this time of the year.
The orders for wood, on Satrurday gave him two trips to Blue Rocks,
two to Lunenburg and one to Mahone,
all by truck, showing a little increase in business.
Miss Clara Quinian, teacher at Dartmouth Academy,
spent the week-end in town, the guest of her mother, Mrs Grace Quinian.
John J. H. McLean, who is a student at Dalhousie College,
is spending the week-end with his parents, Mr and Mrs W. D. McLean.
The funeral of the late Dr W. N. Cochran
was held from St James' Church on Tuesday afternoon,
the service being conducted by the Rev L. Tuck,
rector of St James' Church, assisted by Rev Spurr, of Liverpool.
The church was crowded, showing the love and esteem that was held for him in
town and vicinity.
Being a resident of this town for over 20 years
he will be greatly missed in his profession and his many kind deeds.
Dr. Cochran was vice- president of the Conservative Association and was buried with Masonic honors in Park Cemetery.
The marriage took place at St James' Church on Wednesday, Nov 9th,
of Miss Oreasa Ernest, daughter of Capt. and Mrs Charles Ernest, of Oakland
to Arthur A. Hiltz, Jr., son of Capt. and Mrs Hiltz of this town.
Mr. and Mrs. Hiltz motored to Halifax and is taking a trip through the Annapolis Valley.
On their return they will reside in Mahone Bay.
Rev Mr Cunningham, pastor of Rose Bay Presbyterian Church
preached morning and evening in Knox Church, at Mahone Bay on November the 17th.
