Thomas Langill and wife To Mathew Langill.
Registered June 5th 1844, at 12 o'clock a.m.
on the certificate of George Smith J.P.
This Indenture made this first day of February in the year of our Lord
one thousand and eight hundred and forty two.
Between Thomas Langill of the River John in the County of Pictou,Yeoman,
and Lucy his wife of the one part, and
Mathew Langill, of River John in the County of Pictou aforesaid, Farmer, of the other part.
Witnesseth, the said Thomas Langill and Lucy his wife for and in consideration
of the sum of twelve pounds of lawful money of Nova Scotia in hand,
paid by the said Mathew Langill at or before the sealing of and delivery of these presents,
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged.
Have granted, bargained, sold, remised, released, enfeoffed, and
confirmed, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, remise,
release, enfeoff, and confirm unto the said Mathew Langill,
his heirs and assigns All that certain lot or tract of land situate, lying and
being in River John, in the County of Pictou, abutted, bounded and
described as follows: viz.
Beginning at the Northern side of the Mill Brook on the East boundary line
of the Honorable George Smith's saw mill lot, and
North West angle of a lot of land belonging to Christopher Langill,
running thence North on said East boundary line
twenty seven chains and fifty links to a pine tree,
the South West angle of a lot of land granted to Lewis Tattery,
thence East on said Tattery's lot sixteen chains and fifty eight links
to a stake the North West angle of Mathew Langill's lot,
thence South on said last mentioned lot twenty three chains and thirty links
or to the Northern side of the Mill Brook aforementioned,
and thence Westerly the courses of the same up stream to the place of beginning.
Containing forty four acres, more of less.
With all and singular the ways, water, watercourses, wood, trees,
buildings, improvements, privileges and appurtenances thereof or thereto
in any way belonging or appertaining.
And the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders,
rents issues and profits thereof, together with all the estate,
right, title, interest, claim, property and demand of the said
Thomas Langill into and all the Dower, or thirds or rights
or title of her the said Lucy his wife into out of or upon the said lot
of land and premises above granted, or any part thereof.
To have and to hold the said lot of land and all and singular the
premises hereby granted and conveyed or mentioned or intended so to be,
with their and every of their appurtenances unto him the said
Mathew Langill, his heirs and assigns, this and their own proper use benefit
and behoof forever. And the said Thomas Langill for himself his heirs,
executors, and administrators do by these presents covenant promise and
agree to and with the said Mathew Langill, his heirs and assigns in
manner and form following that is to say that he, the said
Mathew Langill, his heirs shall and may at any time and at all times hereafter
peacefully and quietly enter into have hold occupy possess and enjoy the
said lot of land and premises, with all the appurtenances and every part
thereof and that he the said Thomas Langill and his heirs and assigns
the said lot of land and premises and every part to him, the said
Mathew Langill, his heirs and assigns against all lawful claims of any person
or persons whomsoever shall and will warrant maintain and forever defend.
In witness whereof the parties to these presents have here unto set
their hands and seals subscribed and set, the day and year first above written

Received on the day of the date of the foregoing Indenture from the
therein named Mathew Langill the sum of twelve pounds, of lawful money
of Nova Scotia being in full the consideration therein mentioned to be
paid by him to me.

I do certify that William Langill of River john in the County of Pictou,
Yeoman, whose name is subscribed as a witness to the foregoing indenture
came before me this day and being sworn maketh oath and saith that he
was present at and witnessed the execution of the same for the purposes
within mentioned.
