William Langill, Christopher's son to Alexander McKenzie.
Registered 15th May 1843 at 1 o'clock p.m. on the oath of Charles McLennan
This indenture made at River John this twenty-fourth day of April
in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and forty-three between
William Langill, Christopher's son, of River John in the County of Pictou,
farmer, of the one part and Alexander McKenzie of River John in the
county aforesaid, Esquire, of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said William Langill for and in consideration of the sum of
fifty-nine pounds, and eight currency of the Province of Nova Scotia
to him in hand paid at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents,
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged.
Hath granted, bargained, sold, remised released, enfeoffed and confirmed
unto the said Alexander McKenzie his heirs and assigns forever a certain lot
or parcel of land situate lying and being on the road leading from River John
towards Truro and bounded on the south by lands granted to James Murray
on the east by lands in the occupation of Christopher Langill
being the whole of the lot granted to his father and purchased by the said
William Langill from his father, Christopher Langill and on which the said
William Langill now resides containing one hundred acres more or less reference
being had to the place of the grant of the same for a further description.
To have and to hold the said lot of land and premises with all the
buildings and improvements thereon or thereunto belonging or in
anywise appertaining to him, the said Alexander McKenzie, his heirs and
executors, administrators or assigns to his and their only use, benefit
and behoof, forever and the said William Langill doth hereby bind himself,
his heirs, executors and administrators and assigns against the lawful claim
of all and every person or persons to warrant and defend the said Alexander McKenzie,
his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns in the peaceable and quiet possession
of the above conveyed premises forever.
Provided always and it is the true intent and meaning of the parties to these presents
are that if the said William Langille, his heirs, executors, or administrators,
shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid to the said Alexander McKenzie, his heirs,
executors, administrators or assigns, the just and full sum of
fifty-nine pounds, eight shillings above mentioned with lawful interest thereon,
within one year from the date of these presents as the same is secured by a
promissory note from the said William Langill to the said Alexander McKenzie
bearing on date herewith then this present Deed of Indenture and every clause,
matter and thing herein contained to cause, determine and become void and of no effect.
In witness whereof the said Benjamine Langill hath hereunto his name,
subscribed and seal affixed the day and year first above written
