Matthew Langill and wife to James Kitchin, Senior and others

This Indenture made this fourteenth day of January in the year of our Lord
one thousand, eight hundred and forty-two
between Matthew Langill of River John in the County of Pictou, yeoman, and Eunice, his wife, of the one part
and James Kitchin, Senior of Pictou, shoe-maker, and James Kitchin, Junior, of River John, shoe-maker and Thomas McConnell of River John, farmer, all of the County of Pictou aforesaid, of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said Matthew Langill and Eunice, his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of ten pounds of lawful money of Nova Scotia to them in hand paid at or by, on the execution of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. Have and each of them hath granted, sold, aliened, enfeoffed, released, conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do and each of them doth grant, bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff, release, convey and confirm unto the said James Kitchen, Senior, James Kitchin, Junior and Thomas McConnell their heirs and assigns all that certain lot or piece of land situate lying and being in the settlement of River John, in the county of Pictou aforesaid abutted, bounded and described as follows.

Viz: Beginning on the southern side of the road leading from River John to Tatamagouche at a stake on eastern boundary line of William Gould's lot, thence south eleven and half degrees east seventy feet on said lot to a stake thence north seventy-eight and a half degrees east sixty feet to a stake thence north eleven and a half degrees west seventy-five feet to stake on the southern side of the said road and then south seventy-one degrees west along the same sixty feet to place of beginning, containing one tenth of an acre nearly be the same more or less. Together with all and singular the houses, buildings, ways, waters, water-courses, improvement and hereditaments, privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders yearly and other rents, issues and profits thereof and also all the estate, right and title, interest, use, trust, property claim and demand whomsoever both at law and in equity to him the said Matthew Langill and all the Dower or Thirds or right or title to Dower or Thirds of her the said Eunice, his wife, in, to, out, of or upon the said lot or piece of land and premises above granted and every and any part thereof to have and to hold the said lot or piece of land and all and singular other the premises hereby granted and conveyed or maintained or intended so to be with their and every of their appurtenances unto him the said James Kitchin, Senior, James Kitchin, Junior and Thomas McConnell, their heirs and assigns to them and their only use, benefit and behoof for ever - free and clear of all claims and demands whatsoever of them the said Matthew Langill and Eunice, his wife, their heirs and assigns and all and every person and persons whomsoever claiming or to claim in, by or under them. In witness whereof the said Matthew Langill and Eunice, his wife, have hereunto severally their names subscribed and seals affixed the day and year above first written.

Be it remembered that on the fourteenth day of February, in the year of our Lord, one thousand, eight hundred and forty-four personally appeared before me the subscriber, one of her Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the county of Pictou, Mrs. Eunice Langill, a party to the foregoing Indenture and wife of Matthew Langill, also a party hereto, who being by me examined acknowledged that the said Indenture was by her executed for the purposes therein mentioned and that freely and voluntarily without force or compulsion on the part of her husband.
