LANGILLE, Laurie Walter- Died at home at the age of 79 on December 23, 2011. Born July 31, 1932, he grew up and resided his whole life in Martins River. A positive outlook on life was his trademark that dominated every encounter. He was devoted to his wife (Ruby) and children, Malcolm, Michael and Pamela.Whether building a house, splitting wood or doing odd jobs, he was supportive of his family and always there for them. Ruby and Laurie were fond of travelling and ready to go whether it was a trip to the United States or just one of many visits to the Valley. He enjoyed the ocean, holding dipping and fishing licences. Painful legs did not stop him from his passion for the woods and trapping, as he went deer hunting and setting a few snares this past fall. He relished fishing trips with his grandchildren and would proudly retell the stories to everyone who would listen. As a foreman for Tidewater Construction and Scotia Steel Setters, he was respected by both his bosses for being particular and the men who worked for him for being fair. He is survived by his wife, Ruby of Martins River; son, Michael and partner Cheryl of Maitland and daughter Pam and husband Carter of Coldbrook and extended family, Barb and husband Derek of Centerville and William of Massachusetts. He is survived by brothers, Gerald and Harris and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Malcolm and sisters, Doris and Rita. Laurie's body was cremated; private funeral to be held at a later date. There are no plans for what will he done regarding interment. Donations can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or charity of choice at R.A. Corkum Funeral Home www.corkumfuneralhome.ca
