LANGILLE, Pamela Jean - Age 58, passed away in her home in Halifax on July 12, 2008. Born in Sackville, N.B., in 1949 and raised in Dorval, Que., Pam was the beloved mother of Christopher Craig and Katharine Jean Francine Langille; younger daughter of the late Lloyd Langille and Norma (Hatherly); and sister of Barbara Ann Langille, East Lawrencetown; Paul Gordon Langille, Pointe Claire, Que., and Richard Alan Langille (Giselle), Ottawa, Ont. She was an aunt to Christine (Francois), Jennifer (Patrick), Mary, Erin (Miguel) and Michael, and a great-aunt to Benjamin, Sarah, Emilie and Lili. Her Uncle Don Hatherly, Granville Centre, was very special to Pam. A woman of many talents, she was a social worker and Director of Volunteer Services at the Nova Scotia Hospital for 10 years. Pam had also worked for Bedford Institute of Oceanography, made many contributions to the Ability Network Magazine, and was involved with the New Democratic Party of Nova Scotia for many years. She spent most of her time during the past two decades advocating for the protection of the Acadian Forest, wilderness areas and sustainable forest practices. Many of the ideas that she and her colleagues initiated are now being adopted and actively discussed by government and industry. Donations in Pam's memory can be sent to the Eastern Shore Forest Watch Association (Comp 10, Site 2 R.R.1, Head Jeddore, NS B0J 1P0) to support continuance of this work. A private burial has been held and a memorial service will follow at a later date. Memories of Pam and messages of condolence may be e-mailed to: [email protected] and will be passed on to the family.
