LANGILLE, Marion Ethel - 84, Annapolis Royal, died December 23, 1999, in Toronto.
Born in Saskatoon on March 23, 1915,
she was a daughter of the late Ira and Ida Bird.
After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan she directed youth camps and pioneered numerous community and provincial recreation programs.
She worked with the Government of Tommy Douglas in Saskatchewan and in various capacities with the YWCA.
With her husband Howard, she helped to build and operate Sky Loft, a family ski and conference centre north of Toronto. She was an active supporter of the Annapolis Arts Community and the Annapolis Historic Gardens, as well as being a co-founder of Project Ploughshares, Western Valley Region and the University Women's Club.
Surviving are sons, David Langille, Toronto;
Dr. Peter Langille, Ontario; one granddaughter.
The body was donated to medical research. Memorial service 2 p.m. Saturday, in St. George and St. Andrews United Church, Annapolis Royal. In lieu of flowers, donations to, Centre for Social Justice, 489 College St., Suite 303, Toronto, M6G 1A5,
J. Howard Langille Swimming Pool, c/o Recreation Commission of Annapolis Royal or Annapolis Community Health Centre.
