Owen Emmerson Langill
September 2, 1909 - January 15, 1999
LANGILL, Owen E. - 89, Tatamagouche, formerly of Wallace, died
Friday, January 15, 1999, in Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital,
Tatamagouche. Born in Wallace, he was a son of the late James and
Leona (Langille) Langill. Owen worked as a carpenter and as the
caretaker for the property of the late John A. Kennedy (currently the
Wallace Museum property) for 28 years. Owen was a past master of the
Wallace 76 AF & AM Masonic Lodge and also past patron of the Order of
the Eastern Star, Cedar Chapter 3. He served as an elder in St.
John's United Church, Wallace for 28 years. He was a gentle caring
man who served his family, church and community. He loved his wife,
children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was greatly
loved by all in return. His guidance, love and support was a strong
influence and will be remembered with gratitude and devotion.
Surviving is Owen's wife, Carolyn (Carrie) Langill, Tatamagouche;
daughter, Katherine and husband Chester McPherson, Dartmouth; son,
Ross and wife Anna Langill, Bible Hill;
grandchildren, Lisa (Mrs. Thomas Hofmann), Dartmouth; James and wife
Jane McPherson, Halifax; Daria Langill and friend Ivan Polley, Bible
Hill; Stephenie Langill, Fredericton; great-grandchildren, Liam Ross
and Nicholas Owen; sisters, Delta Clark, Mississauga, Ont.; Alta
Zlak, Kitchener, Ont. Owen was predeceased by his sisters, Thelma,
Madelene and Waunita; brothers, Lorne and Glover. Visitation is to
take place today 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 7-9 p.m. with a Masonic service
at 7 p.m. and an Order of the Eastern Star service at 7:15 p.m., all
at Mundle's Funeral Home, Pugwash. Service is to take place Monday 2
p.m. in St. Matthew's Presbyterian Church, Wallace, Rev. Martyn
VanEssen officiating. Spring burial to take place in the Wallace
Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations can be made to the North
Shore Health Services Foundation or charity of choice.
