YAKIMA - Lewis Wade Langell, 79, born February 12, 1931, passed away February 4, 2011. Born in Yakima, the son of Wade and Esther Langell, Lewis or Louie as he was called married Joyce (Wetzel) and for 58 years they raised a family and farmed in Yakima. Lewis was a graduate of Yakima High School and after school he married and eventually built a home on his parent's farm. Early in his career he was a butcher and then became a livestock buyer for a major packing company. Besides his full time employment Lewis and Joyce worked on the farm where they raised beef cattle and had orchards. One of his greatest accomplishments were the friendships he made, always eager to approach a stranger and start a conversation, his quick wit and sincere mannerisms touched many people's lives. Lewis and Joyce had two children, the eldest Lewis Wade Langell Jr. (Judy) of Eagleville, TN; and Mark Henry Langell (Deanna) of Wapato, WA, two grandchildren, Kelcey and Colton who he thoroughly enjoyed. Dad loved the outdoors and the farm life which he instilled into us. Hunting, camping, and fishing were memories that we will always carry with us. He enjoyed gardening and sharing his bounty with friends. In his early years Dad enjoyed team roping and even tried his hand at polo. An avid reader, most evenings were spent with a book in his hand. Dad's word was his bond and a handshake meant more than a contract. Dad, you will be sorely missed, but we thank God for your presence and the role you played in our lives. There will be no services per Lewis's request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to LaSalle High School. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Karen Harrison and Dr. David Doornick.
