William Berry was born in North Carolina about 1786 to 1788. He can first be found on the 1810 Hyde Co., North Carolina census. William served in the War of 1812. His first wife was Nancy Sermon, daughter of Peter Sermon Jr. She was born about 1784-1794 and died before 1820. Their children were Reuben Berry, b. 1804/10; John Berry, b. abt 1810; Rachel Berry, b. 1810/15 [married Sparrow Midgett before November 1828]; and Levica Berry, b. November 28, 1813. William Berry’s second wife was Elizabeth Sermon, Nancy’s sister. Elizabeth waa born 1794-1800 and died by November 1828. Hosea Berry, born 1815/20, was the only child of William Berry and Elizabeth Sermon. William Berry’s third wife was Bridget [Unknown], born abt 1790. Their two children were Ira A. Berry, b. 1828/30 [married Delila Rose (1833-1899)] and Nancy Berry, b. 1832 [married William McKinney]. William Berry died in Hyde Co., North Carolina in 1864.
