Augustine Berry, the earliest known ancestor of this line, may have been born in Culpeper County, Virginia, between 1757-1761. Augustine Berry served in the Revolutionary War. He can be found in the records of Frederick, Russell, Rockingham and Shenandoah counties in Virginia before 1808. Augustine Berry migrated to Barren County, Kentucky, circa 1808 and died there in the fall of 1811. He married Mary Short circa 1780. Known children are: Lucy Berry [m. Abraham Compton]; Elizabeth Berry [m. Harden Celson]; Ephraim Berry [m. Rhoda Clayton]; Nancy Berry [m. Davis Holder]; Harris Berry [m. Mickey Phelps]; Enoch Berry [m. Sarah Tinsley]; Augustine Berry [m. Piety Unknown]. Descendants of this line can be found in Kentucky, Arkansas and Texas.
