John Berry was born about 1775 in Virginia. He married Elizabeth Harris in Madison Co., Kentucky in 1797. They can be documented in Madison Co. through 1809, and moved to Missouri, first settling in what became Boone Co. He died in Saline Co., Missouri in October 1840. His children were ; Thomas G. Berry (c1798->1845) [m. Juliza Lemmons]; Tyree H. Berry (1800-1871) [m. (1) Hettie Boone Copher, (2) Nancy Likens, (3) Nancy Rhodes]; Higgason Berry (1802-?) [m. Unknown Lemmons]; Milton David Barry (1803-?) [m. Martha Jane Reavis]; Eliza Berry (1805-1878) [m. James Elza Reavis]; Lucy J. Berry (1810-1842) [m. Edwin Reavis]; Robert H. Berry (1811-1867) [m. Mary Ann Patterson]; Nancy Stone Berry (1814-1864) [m. Overton Reavis); Elizabeth T. Berry (1821->1889) [m. (1) Preston Patrick, (2) William Chapman].
