John Barry

The only information on the earliest known ancestor of this line, John Barry, has been found in the marriage record for his son, Martin Barry, who married Lydia Graham on May 22, 1849, in the Parish Church in the parish of Corcomohide, Diocese of Limerick, Ireland. The bride and groom were listed as residents of Rossmore, a townland of County Limerick. Martin's father was indentified as John Barry, labourer, in the marriage record. Martin Barry (born about 1820), his wife and oldest daughter, Jane Barry, emigrated to the United States in November 1850. John Barry's other known son, Edward Barry (born about 1825) emigrated to the United States in 1856. Both men served in the Civil War. Martin and Edward Barry, with their families, were living in Morris Township, Grundy County, Illinois, in the 1900 census.
