John Barry was born around 1808 to 1812 in Ireland. He first emigrated to Canada, then to the United States in 1834 settling in Louisville, Saint Lawrence Co., New York by 1840. John Barry married Margaret Clemons about 1842. Their known children were Hannah (Honara) born about 1843; Mary born about 1845; Thomas, born about 1851; Catherine, born about 1853; Julia A., born about 1855; Joseph, born about 1856; and John, born about 1859. It is believed that John Barry and his siblings, Mary (born about 1835), Samuel (born about 1836) and Bridget (born about 1839) were the children of Philip Barry who was born in County Tipperary, Ireland.
