The earliest known ancestor of this line is James Berry whose circa 1830 birth may have occurred in Missouri as stated on several 1880 and 1900 census records for his children. The earliest known record for James Berry, however, is his marriage to Jackey Ann Brown in Fannin County, Texas, on October 23, 1853. By 1870, James Berry was deceased and his widow was living in Lamar County, Texas. Four known children were William St. Clair Berry, James D. Berry, George W. Berry and Mary E. Berry (married James A. Herring). Descendants of this line can be found in Texas and Arizona. August 13, 2005
