The earliest known ancestor of this line, William Berry II, was probably born in Virginia. His wife’s name was Sarah Roebuck. Both William and Sarah died in the mid 1820s in Mason County, Kentucky, leaving their two sons, George Washington Berry, b. September 20, 1816, and Franklin Roundtree Berry, to be raised by their grandmother, Catherine Roebuck. George W. Berry moved to Missouri in the 1830s and eventually settled in Kansas.
