John Berry is first documented in Twiggs Co., Georgia, in 1813 in the 1st Regiment of Chambers' Georgia Militia. He was born between 1790 - 1800 but his birth place is unknown. He died in Twiggs Co., Georgia, between 1845 and 1850. Although the name of his wife or wives is not known, hiis known children were William Green Berry, b. about 1828, Mathew Albritton Berry, b. about 1826, married Sophie Ann Caroline Collins in about 1852, and James Lawrence Berry, b. about 1825, married Mary Jane (maiden name and marriage date unknown).

William Green Berry married Priscilla Anglin about 1849. Their known children were Robert Lee Berry, b. 1866 in Grady, Montgomery Co., Alabama. Also Samantha Berry, Mary Ella Berry, James Henry Berry, John Andrew Berry, William Dorman Berry, all born in Twiggs Co., Georgia, and James William Berry, Green Walter Berry, George Albritton Berry and Rufus Lawrence Berry, all born in Grady, Montgomery Co., Alabama. Many members of this family migrated to Plant City, Florida after 1900.
