Lankshear Family History Newsletter February 2008

Complete as of 29 February

Makeover - this site just had a complete makeover - for the How see Web Design for this site. For you I hope it means easier navigation. The left sidebar menu will change depending on what data block. I hope it is clear. For me it means I can more easily add pages.

Blog: http://lanksheargenealogy.blogspot.com/
The intent of this is I will update when I change/add a page on the web. If you want to keep track of what we find it would be a good idea to subscribe to the RSS/Atom feed. I did try to keep a revision page but I tended to forget. So I thought an RSS feed would fit. Could not find a way to do that with ordinary web pages but Blog has it built in.
Many ways of reading RSS feeds - I use Bloglines, Google has a reader and others also. Basically I follow newspapers and technical journals etc and scan through the titles and click what I want to read in depth . Let me know if you need more on this.

BMD - a complete update for Lankshear - Marriages Births and Deaths from 1837 - the FreeBMD indexing of 19th century is fairly complete. Of course many births and deaths are still to be linked to the appropriate family page but the names are on the index page. If you see any still open and you know who etc - let me know. All marriages to 1900 should have their own page. Some of these are still a mystery and can be found Lankshear FOCUS Items – the To Do Page and also our Blog. I usually record births etc on the page for the parents until I move them when they marry.

FACEBOOK - Stewart has started http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=8208803961 - there are around 6 Lankshear subscribed to it. A lot of people start on Facebook but I gather they drop out.

WONDERFUL PHOTOGRAPHS - John Erwin sent me some pictures of 1901  Edith Blanche Lankshear marriage Charles Miller - wonderful quality and so great to see my great Uncle and Aunt

LANKSHEAR the oldest known linked event 1674 marriage Humphrey DAWSON of Northmoor & Joan SMART from Stanton Harcourt in St Giles, Oxford - anyone able to research in Oxford for early Lankshear's.

Please if you have any historic certificates send me a scan of the details. Of course if its modern details you don't want to see on internet please let me know. Have a look at GODFREY in Surnames for some detail that Julie so kindly sent.

Dianne also sent a lot of data on SUMSION - and Ann who married Richard LANKESHEER in 1793 - The LANKESHEER are from Somerset and name is so like ours I do collect data for them.

if you have any data for a newsletter please send
