I, Ludvig Hanson

do hereby, upon oath declare that I first arrived in the United States on or about the 16 day of May, in the year A. D. 1865, and that I have, ever since that time, continued to reside in the United States, and that it is bona fide my intention to become

A Citizen of the United States,

and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity which I in anywise owe to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty, and particularly all allegiance which I owe to the King of Sweedn [sp] & Norway of whom I have heretofore been a subject.

To the Honorable L. L. Baxler Judge of the District Court of Douglas County:

Your petitioner, Ludvig Hanson as alien, a native of Norway respectfully represents unto your Honor that he arrived in the United States as a minor, under the age of twenty-one; that he resided in the United States three years preceding his arrival at the age of twenty-one years; that he has continued to reside therein to the time of his making this his application to be admitted as a citizen thereof; that he has arrived at the age of twenty-one years; that he has resided in the United States five years and upward, to wit, for the term of 31 years, including the three years of his minority, and in the State of Minnesota, for 31 years, that it is bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever, and particularly the allegiance and fidelity which he in anywise owes to The King of Sweedn [sp] and Norway whereof he was heretofore a citizen or subject, and for two years next preceding it has been bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States.

We, Anton A. Strom and Theo Bordsen of the County of Douglas and State of Minnesota, having been first duly sworn, do depose and say, that we have been personally aquainted with Ludvig Hanson, an alien, who has applied to be admitted as a naturalized citizen of the United States, for the space of five years last past and upward; that during the who of said time he has continued to reside within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States, and one year, at least, in the said State of Minnesota, preceding the day of the date hereof; and that, as far as our knowledge and observation have extended, he has behaved himself as a man of good moral character, and appears to be attached to the principles contained in the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same; and that for two years next preceding it has been his bona fide intention to become a citizen of the United States.

I, Ludvig Hanson do solemnly swear _____ in the presence of Almighty God, that I will support the Constitution of the United States, and that I do absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever, and more particularly the allegiance and fidelity I in anywise owe to The King of Sweedn [sp] & Norway whereof I was heretofore a citizen or subject, and further that I have never borne any hereditary title or been of any of the degrees of nobility of the country whereof I have been a subject.
