DECLARATION OF INTENTION

COUNTY OF Houghton
The Circuit Court for the said County of Houghton to wit:
Andrew Melin solemnly swear that it is BONA FIDE my intention to become a CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES, and to RENOUNCE FOREVER all my allegiance and fidelity to each and every Foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatsoever, and particularly to the King of Sweden of whom I have been a subject.

Sworn to and subscribed before me, at Houghton this 21 day of May A.D., 1870.

Alexander Pope Clerk of Circuit Court of said County, do certify that the above is a true copy of the original Declaration of Intention of Andrew Melin to become a CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES, remaining on record in my office.

In the Circuit Court for said County of Marquette:
Of the October (20) Term, 1875.
We C. A. Anderson Peter G. Olson of Ishpeming and State of Michigan, do swear that Petitioner Andrew Melin has resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States of America five years, and within the State of Michigan one year, and under the Constitution of the United States; and that during his residence within the United States, he has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same.
Sworn and subscribed in open Court this 20 day of October A.D. 1875

I, Andrew Melin do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States, and that I do absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State, or Sovereignty whatsoever, and particularly do absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegience and fidelity to the King of Sweden and Norway, whereof I was a subject.
