I am Frank Richard Folkerth, aka Dick. I have never lived in DCO but visiting the Great Darke County Fair with a grandfather who was a tractor salesman ( Ed Jefferis ) was one of the highlights of my childhood. I thought my grandfather knew everyone in the county.
My parents; Frank Roy Folkerth b 1900 Montgomery Co., OH, moved to DCO as young child, lived there until ca 1918 and in the vicinity until 1931. d 1972 Kentucky m 1931 to Helen Marguerite Jefferis, aka 'Rite b 1908 in DCO, lived there until marriage in 1931. d 1982 Texas Both considered Darke County to be 'home' and are buried in the Greenville Cemetery.
My grandparents; Frank Jordan Folkerth, aka Jordan or Jerd b 1858 Montgomery Co., moved to DCO about 1902 d 1935 DCO m 1880 to Alice Charlotte Feirstine b 1860 Montgomery or Greene Co., moved to DCO about 1902 d 1943 DCO Both buried Greenville Cemetery.
Edward F. Jefferis b 1876 DCO d 1957 DCO m 1900 to Laura Harris Jefferis b 1877 Benton Co., IN, moved to DCO 1898 d 1926 DCO Both buried Palestine Cemetery.
My ggrandparents with DCO connections; Milton Moore Jefferis b 1833 DCO d 1903 DCO m 1855 to Louisa Chenoweth b 1835 DCO d 1900 DCO Both buried Nashville Cemetery.
Charles E. Harris lived in DCO from 1898 to about 1920. b 1856 LaSalle Co., IL d 1940 Marion Co., IN m 1876 or 1877 to Mary Harriet Wilcoxson aka Hattie moved to DCO in 1898 b 1851 Huron Co., OH d 1916 DCO Both buried Palestine Cemetery.
My gggrandparents with DCO connections; Darlington Long Jefferis moved to DCO in 1820. b 1796 Virginia d 1880 DCO m 1821 to Mary Drew Potter b 1801 New Jersey d 1865 DCO Both buried in Nashville Cemetery.
Thomas Foster Chenoweth moved to DCO in 1818. b 1808, Franklin Co., OH d 1886 DCO m 1831 to Christina Thomas joined her husband in DCO after marriage in Preble Co., OH. b 1810 Anderson, TN d 1886 DCO Both buried in Nashville Cemetery.
And finally, some of my ggggrandparents with DCO connections; John Chenoweth moved to DCO in 1818 with his family, then moved 'West' after 1850. b 1785 in Virginia or Maryland d 1865 Tippecanoe Co., IN m 1807 to Elizabeth ( Betsy ) Foster came to DCO with John and left with him, but returned after his death. b 1789 Maryland d 1875 DCO Betsy is buried in Greenville Cemetery, John probably in Indiana.
