According to the article in the Jacksonville paper, Joe said he had worked at alligator farms in California, Arkansas and Miami, before he settled in Jacksonville. The 1910 census indicates he was in Arkansas� The "undivided back" style post card specifically dates this picture to pre-1906; in 1906, the US Postal Service mandated divided backs on post cards.� The white space on the card above was for the message.� The address would have filled the entire back of the card.
