My maiden name is BARRON but I'm also researching DEGONIA (DESGAGNES or DEGAGNE), MCPHEE (MCFEE, MCAFEE, MACPHIE), LORE (LAUR), PORTELL (PORTAIS), BLAY (BLAIS), LARAMORE (LARIMORE), HEWITT (HUITT) and many others.
My "brickwalls" (ancestors that just vanished)are Gabriel Barron born about 1790 in Illinois. He was married three times. First wife, Marie Louise Russ, second wife, �unknown� Montgomery (my line), and third, Martha Hicks.
Neil McPhee born between 1815-1820 in Scotland. He moved to Canada, married Constance Peltier at L�Islet, Quebec, Canada. He moved his family from L'Islet to Potosi, Washington County, Missouri about 1866. After his oldest daughter, Mary McPhee, married John Barron, Neil and Constance moved again to southern Missouri, probably Carter County,p> Andrew Laramore (Larimore) born in Tennessee. Alexis Thibault (Tebeau) born in Lachine, Canada. He married Marie Therese (H)armand dit Sansfacon, probably at Trois-Riviers, Canada, then moved his family to Cahokia, Illinois.
Joseph Saint Germain born possibly at Ste. Anne, Quebec, Canada. Joseph married Marie Louise "Beba". Their son�s marriage certificate states �Marie Louise Beba�. I believe �Beba� is Americanized version of her true French-Canadian surname� what that is, I don�t know.
Many of my ancestors are from France and Scotland. From Canada they settled at Fort des Chartres, Cahokia and Kaskaskia. During the 1780's and 1790's they crossed the Mississippi and set up shop at St. Louis, Ste. Genevieve, Potosi and Old Mines, Washington County, Missouri. My grandparents (father's side), Claude Barron and Leah Degonia, moved to St. Louis from Mineral Point during the late 1930's. My grandparents on my mother's side are from Panama and Portugal.
