This picture is of my grandparents, David T. and Lucy Jane Lewis taken in the 1890's, early, I'd say. David T. served in the Civil War, 141 Regiment G. After returning home he moved his family from Morgan Township on Campaign to Springfield Township, where he purchased an 80-acre farm from an old family by the name of Daniels. Here he raised fruits and vegetables on a large scale. His health failed. After about 1895, he turned the farm over to his eldest son, Harvey Wilson, who continued farming and was an employee of the Old Hocking Valley Railroad as a section hand. David T. and Lucy had a very nice two-story home built on the Rodney road nearby. After Lucy Jane's death in 1909, David T. went back to the farm until his death in 1911.

Harvey and Martha grew older and unable to farm, moved away for retirement in 1937. There are seven generations of the Lewis family on record - all living in Ohio and New York state except Hugh's family.
