Augustus M. Lewis Decd.} Appt of Amst
Now on this 11" day of February AD 1873 comes N.G. Lewis and files his sworn petition wherein he represents that Augustus M. Lewis died on or about the 8" day of February 1873, having him his only heir at law. And that the dec'd. left certain personal property of about the value of Six hundred dollars, which is liable to be lost or destroyed or diminished in value if speedy care be not taken of the same. The petioner asks that letters of administration be granted him.
And it appearing that the said N.G. Lewis is a suitable person it is ordered that he be and he is hereby appointed as administrator of said Estate of Augustus M. Lewis, dec'd, and that he be required to enter into bond for the faithful performance of his duties in the penal sum of Fifteen hundred dollars. Whereupon comes the said N.G. Lewis and files his bond as above required with Joseph Allen as surety which said bond is approved.
And the said N.G. Lewis is duly commissioned and sworn as required by law and required to give notice of his appointment by posting thru public notice thereof. One of which shall be in the South front door of the Court House in Adel, Dallas Co., Iowa. And the others in three public places in the viciinity where the deceased last resided.

The following is a full and perfect inventory of all the Real and Personal Estate of siad dec'd. as far as the same has come to the possession or knowledge of the undersigned.

The above Notes are secured by mortgage on of Real Esate in the State of Ill. but I don't consider them fully secured.
