Looking for LEWIS, GEORGE born 1840-45 Germany-died? (Parents LEWIS George S & Eliza Stople/Stofle both possibly born in Germany. Have no idea of birth or death dates.)
All lived in NYC in the 1860-1880 period. Lewis George married MESSNER, Elizibeth July 1878, ( daughter of Jacob and Franciska Messner) They had son John George Lewis born Sep't 11, 1880-lived on 24th St NYC after that cannot find in any directory or census. NOT, I repeat NOT in the Federal census of 1880 for NYC, I have looked several times..if you find please contact me immediatly with any information. He was a soda merchant and then a driver. Father may have been a "seaman" living on Madison Ave.
Trying to establish places of birth and dates of death for all above,except Elizabeth Messner. Elizabeth later moved to Town of Union/Union City, NJ with her Mother Franciska Messner -living there in 1900 -both widows. I have checked the index of deaths for both Messner and 2 GeorgeLewis circa 1880-1900 in NYC and haven't found the "right" ones.

Looking for any info on GEORGE LEWIS, born 1784, presumably in VA/W VA. Married in Kanawha Co West Virginia to Elizabeth_______Cook about 1842. His wife Elizabeth had been previously married to a man named Cook, and had three children by him: Martha -1834, Mary - 1838, Thomas - 1841. When Cook died, Elizabeth married George Lewis, and had three children by him: Elizabeth -1842, Amanda - 1846, and Rachel Susan - 1850/ Rachel Susan born in Fayette Co W VA - married Nathan Guthrie in Kanawha Co WVA in 1869. GEORGE LEWIS, b. abt 1804 probably in SW PA or Wood Co., VA; married Cynthia LEE, d/o Richard and Tabitha LEE, on 30 May 1828 in Wood Co., VA. George and Cynthia appear on the first census taken for Wirt Co., (W)VA in 1850 with children Esther LEWIS, m. George DEEM; Hannah LEWIS (my gr grandmother who m. Alexander CHANEY, JR); Sarah LEWIS, m. Sylvester LOUIS; Nancy C. LEWIS, m. William DEEM; Deborah LEWIS, m. 1st Leonander SNODGRASS, m. 2nd George EASTON; Ann R. LEWIS, m. George W. CHADDOCK; William Alfred LEWIS, m. Mary Jane Marks. All the marriages of LEWIS children took place in Wirt or Ritchie Co., (W)VA. In 1857, George LEWIS signed a deed selling property in Wirt Co., (W)VA. I have been unable to find any record of him or his wife Cynthia after that date. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for information on the marriage of HENRY LEWIS / Cynthia Strahan c.1850 or so.only child's name I know is Willie Henry Zechariah Lewis(female).
My GG grandfather on my Grand fathers side was John Smith who married Gathala (last name unknown) they had a son named Kenion Smith who married, Mary(unknown) they had 5 children Sophia, Caroline, Margaret,Bunion and Missouri. Missouri Smith Married James Washington Lewis I know only the names of three children William R., Missouri and Gathala. William Robert Lewis married Willie H. Z Lewis(first cousins) their marriage lic. Listed Willie as Galloway from her first marriage. Robert and Willie had Frankie, Gussie, Cynthia, Leonia, Robert, Lillie& Millie(Millie died shortly after birth), Charles and Eva Lee.

HIRAM LEWIS is the father of my gg grandmother Caroline May Lewis. Caroline was born Oct 19, 1847 in Perth Cty, ON, Canada, and married William Charles FERRIS in Feb 1869. On her marriage record it shows Hiram and Mary Ann Lewis as her parents. Mary Ann's surname is unknown. The 1891 census return lists that Caroline's father was born in the USA, and her mother in PEI, Canada. Hiram would have been born before abt 1830 to be Caroline's father.

Searching for IRA LEWIS b. ca 1850, My grgrandfather. Married KATE HASKINS ca 1875. I know at one time they lived in Ellery, Chautauqua Co. NY and had a son,IRA, who died there. they had two other children Jessie Marie b 1888 and Edson. They lived in NY and PA and possibly OH as that is where Kate is buried , in Ashtabula, even though she died in Buffalo NY. Kate may have had family in Bemus Point NY. As you can tell we have very little to go on.

ISAAC LEWIS, Jr. (I guess I can possibly assume there was an Isaac, Sr. before him) An Isaac LEWIS first shows up on records in Salem Co., NJ in the 1790's (could be Isaac, Jr. or his father) Isaac, Jr. m. Elizabeth MOORE on July 5, 1807. He had at least 2 children Isaac LEWIS who m. Margaret KIGER of Haines Neck (Salem Co.) on Sept. 27, 1832 and Mary Ann LEWIS who m. John M. KIGER on Jan. 28, 1832. John and Mary Ann are my g-g-grandparents and I would love to learn more about Mary Ann and her parents. By the way, John and Mary Ann also had a son named Isaac. There seem to have been very few LEWIS's in Salem Co., NJ in the mid-1800's, so perhaps Isaac, Sr. or Jr. came from elsewhere- it appears that the family had a long history with the name Isaac- any Isaac LEWIS's out there who may have moved to NJ around the 1790's? I am looking for ISAAC C. LEWIS, born 25 May 1790. He died 11 May 1886. He is the father of my ancestor, Charles Brown Lewis, born 12 Feb 1825 in NY. He lived in Pharsalia, Chenango, NY. Charles' siblings were: Daniel D., Artemisia M., Flavilla (1828), Amanda (1834), Chloe (1837), Allicee (1848). The previous names come from a family bible. A cousin's research says the names should be: Isaac C. Jr., Pardon, Daniel D., Jason, Charles B., Nimia, Chloe Ann. I have Isaac's wife as Abigail, but she may be the second wife.
