I would like to correspond with any decendants of SAMUEL LEWIS, Jr. or his brother RUSSELL LEWIS. They had a brother Loyd Lewis who stayed in New York possibly with the father and they lived in Allegany Co. & Cayuga Co. NY.. Russell and Samuel Jr. went to Washtenaw Co. and Wayne County in Michigan, they moved to MI in 1840's or maybe a bit sooner. My ancestor is Eliza Ann Lewis wife of Nathaniel Gregory, she is sister to these brothers. Samuel Jr. married Assenath Sill and Russell married to Celia Chapman and Emily Freeman. I estimate Samuel Lewis, Sr. to be born ca. 1755. Russell was born 1805 and Samuel Jr. born 1796.
Thanks for any help.
Donald

SARAHANN LEWIS b.1820 in Mississippi married Ludson Wilson in Pt.Coupee,La in 1844.He died in 1851 and she married a few times more.Who were her parents? That is the Brick wall for me.In the family Bible she referred to her husbands as consorts when she wrote in their names. Surely not many people do that,so I thought it might help in identifying her roots. There are two other people mentioned closely with her name in the Bible and we cannot figure out their relationship to Sarahann Lewis. James Madison Lewis b.April 7,1838 in Pt.Coupee,La. and Napolean Bonaparte Stovalle Trent b.Aug.8,1810 in Henry Co.,Va.Please shed some light on our Lewis if you can.

WANTED information on the SIMON SNELL LEWIS family. Simon born 1791 in Northam, Devon, England son of Richard LEWIS and Elizabeth SNELL, married Mary CHANNON in 1813 in Northam.

Simon LEWIS and Mary CHANNON had at least five children:

  • Richard baptised 1814 in Northam, Devon
  • William baptised ?? married Margaret JOHNS
  • Henry baptised ?? married Mary Jane CHANNON
  • Catherine baptised ?? married Edwin Morgan HULMAN
  • Simon born circa 1832 in Appledore, Devon married Annie MILES

Having searched the Northam Parish Registers Richards is the only baptism I can find. Simon was my husbands' Great Grandfather and I have found him on census and in local directories, with mention of father Simon Snell LEWIS. Also on the census I have noted grandchildren, nieces and nephews. From their birth certificates I have deduced William (in Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Wales), Henry (in Birkenhead, Cheshire) and Catherine in Swansea, Glamorganshire, Wales) to be children of Simon Snell LEWIS.

I can go back 10 generations starting in Sandersfoot, South Wales in the early 17th. Century but this generation is puzzling me. Would be happy to share info. with anyone who is working on this family tree or any of its' branches. Sheryn Heswall Wirral England
