Family of Northeast Pennsylvania
A family legacy worth remembering.
In 1804, a 10-year-old by the name of Thomas Bagley arrived with his family in the vicinity of present-day Brooklyn, Pa., after a long journey from Vermont. About a dozen years later, he met Abiah Lane, who also haled from Vermont, and they married, eventually producing nine children of whom two died in infancy. They followed his parents to Ohio, but after some of his family died in an epidemic, they returned and settled in the Springville area, and later Craig Hill vicinity of Auburn Township in Susquehanna County. In the early 1850s, they moved again finally settling down in the Vose (or Keiserville) area of Wyoming County, Pa., where Thomas would become founding trustee and later class leader of a Methodist Episcopal Church there. Abiah died there in 1856 and Thomas in 1876.
About 25 years later some family members got the idea to start a family reunion to try and bring together the descendants of Thomas and Abiah. And, so, what had been just a dream was put into reality in 1902.
