Land Deed of William Norman and his wife "Uphanny"

This is page 543 of a deed selling land which names Uphanny (Euphony) as William's wife. The transcript follows the image.

 

Page 543, Registered 19th March 1830

Know all men by these present that we, William Norman and Uphanny his wife, of the county of Lincoln and state of Georgia for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars to us in hand paid by William Hill of the county and state aforesaid have granted, bargained, sold, and released and by these present, do grant, bargin, sell and release to the said William Hill, his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land lying and being in said county and bounded as follows (to wit.) Beginning at a post oak adjoining lands whereon Archibald Stinson family lived thence to pine station thence to a red oak corner adjoining lands that formerly belonged to John Adcock. Thence to pine station thence to a pine corner adjoining lands that formerly belonged to said Adcock and said Stinson land containing twenty acres be the same with all and singular the rights members and appertunances to the said premises belonging or in any wise appertaning to have and to hold all and singular the premises before mentioned unto the said William Hill his heirs and assigns forever and we do hereby bind ourselves our heir Executors or administrators to warrant and forever defend all and singular the aforesaid premesis unto the said William Hill, his heirs and assigns forever against the claim of ourselves our heirs and all other persons whatsoever lawfully claiming of the same or any part thereof.

In witness whereof we have set our hand and seals this Twenty sixth day of November one thousand eight hundred and fourteen.

The land was sold in 1814 and registered in 1830. This must have been done to clear the title after William's death. David Glaze was William's son-in-law, George Norman was his son.
