Notes for Samuel Wyatt Norman:

S.W. Norman died last Friday about 11 o'clock. Mr. Norman had on that day gone to the residence of his nephew, G.A. Norman to partake of a fish dinner which was to have been held in his honor. He had entered fully into the occasion and with relatives and friends and was alive with a keen sense of enjoyment when suddenly and just before the dinner was served, he became ill. His death was followed almost instantly. The attending physician said acute indigestion was the ailment. For some time, Mr. Norman had been a sufferer from the most torturesome affliction and it has not infrequently given him some cause for alarm, it being the kind of acute indigestion that interferes with the heart action of its victim. Once or twice, Mr. Norman, upon leaving home, would say to some family member, "If I do not return from the fields promptly for dinner, I want you to send out and search for me. I may be lying ill on the ground somewhere about the place." But, on the day of his death, Mr. Norman had said to his relatives and friends that he had not felt so well for months. He was in particularly good spirits that day and had been telling anecdotes for the entertainment of his relatives and friends. It scattered consternation and sorrow among them when he suddenly staggered toward the bed saying, "I was never so sick in my life." A moment more and he was dead. Mr. Norman was around 58 years old and was the father of 8 children who survive him. They are Mayor Norman, R.C. Norman, Dallas Norman. Mrs. W.C. Matthews, Will Norman, Miss Annie Norman, Irvin Norman and Miss Janie Norman.....Lincoln Journal 07-18-1907.
