Cemetery Tour

On Saturday afternoon, many Norman descendants visited several of Lincoln County's cemeteries. Kenneth Norman donned his War Between the States Confederate uniform and paid tribute to our Norman Confederate veterans with a narrative and a rifle salute. It was very moving to contemplate the hardships these Normans faced both in war and the aftermath.

We visited the George Washington Norman gravesite where Kenneth paid tribute to GW. GW was the great grandson of William Norman through William Harrison Norman. The next cemetery the group visited was the Glaze Memorial where Normans and Glazes are laid to rest. This cemetery is located near where the Thomas Grant Glaze home once stood. TG was the son of David Glaze and Susannah Norman and the grandson of William Norman.

The final visit was made to the burial site of William Norman and many of his family. This is located deep in what is now a pine forest, but was once farmland. Found nearby was a legendary Indian Rock said to have been used by Indians for grinding corn.
