"We had one of those rare sunny 60+ degree days, and I took advantage of the opportunity to get your photos for you. It was actually a bit sunnier than I prefer for photo taking, but hey, I ran with it.

It was quite a fun little adventure. It was a pretty drive up into the country from Carbondale. As the map indicated, the most direct road to the cemetery was closed to all but mine personnel. It is still an operating mine I discovered. So I went around to the other side to approach it. It is right on the edge, if not actually on, mine property. Just where I was to turn onto the lane to the cemetery, there was this big warning sign, which is the first photo I have attached. Needless to say, it gave me pause. But I bravely forged ahead!

The 2nd photo shows the lane as it continues on from the cemetery---the route I first checked to see if the road was really closed. The sign down in the water says "road closed". No kidding. I could hear the heavy machinary working while I was there, but no warning horns, thank goodness.

It is a pretty and well kept cemetery, and several graves had flowers or blankets and so it is obviously visited. You will see that a few of the stones were very worn and difficult to read.
